The plane elasticity problem, of an infinite plate with an elliptical inclusion, was analyzed. Solutions were derived for a point force and/or a dislocation that were located within the inclusion. By using the Muskhelishvili complex potential approach, general solutions were obtained in the form of a certain function plus an infinite series. The numerical convergence of the solutions was found to be better than that of previous ones for the same problem. The present solutions were also expected to be suitable for treating the case of a point force and dislocation which acted at a point on the interface.
