Safe and inexpensive vanadium pentoxide aerogel materials, as used as cathode materials, were considered. Preparation of the films, and Li-ion diffusion at the interface between the cathode and electrolyte as studied by potential-step current transient techniques and digital simulations, were considered. The results showed that the diffusion coefficient, DLi, of the V2O5 aerogel film was 9.18 x 10-14cm2/s and that the exchange current was 12.5 x 10-6A at a potential step of some 3.6~3.5VLi/Li+.
