Various types of imperfection, such as point defects, straight disclinations, circular twist and wedge disclination loops, and circular prismatic and glide dislocation loops were considered within the frame-work of the theory of non-local elasticity. In this theory the stress at a reference point was assumed to be a function of the strain field at every point in the medium. It was found that the stress fields had no singularities; in contrast to the corresponding classical results. It was noted that the maximum stresses were attained at some distance from the imperfection.
