Adsorption isobars were measured for the H/Mo(100) system. From these the activation energy and the frequency factor were extracted as functions of coverage from 0 to 2ML along the isobar. This method allows the independent determination of each of these quantities. Estimates were also obtained for the partial molar entropy of adsorption as a function of coverage. Large changes were observed in all of these quantities as functions of coverage. The strong correlation between the observed changes in these parameters and the structural phase transitions as observed by low-energy electron diffraction and IR lead to the conclusion that surface reconstruction had a profound influence on the kinetics of desorption.
