The electronic structure of Sr2RuO4 was investigated, using high angular resolution ARPES, at several incident photon energies. The issues of the Fermi surface topology and the van Hove singularity at the M point were considered, and it was shown that a surface state and the replica of the primary Fermi surface due to √2 x √2 surface reconstruction were responsible for previous conflicting interpretations. The Fermi surface thus determined by ARPES was consistent with the de Haas–van Alphen results, and it provides additional information on the detailed shape of the α, β and γ sheets.
