The possible appearance of an alternating-current Josephson effect, initiated by the flow of dislocations through a mechanically loaded but electrically unbiased superconductor, was mooted. The characteristic voltages which were due to the motion of dislocations in loaded (applied stress of 107N/m2) YBCO crystals were estimated to be of the order of a few pV; corresponding to a Josephson frequency of 10kHz.
