A method was presented which permitted the configurational energy change of long-range ordered alloys to be estimated following successive slips of super-partial dislocations. The long-range order was described by concentration waves, and effective pair-interaction parameters which had been deduced from diffuse X-ray and neutron-scattering measurements of short-range ordered alloys were used in the calculations. The method was used to determine the antiphase boundary energies of dissociated super-dislocations on various slip systems in intermetallics having the L12, B2 or D03 structures. The results generally agreed with the antiphase boundary energies which were deduced, from measurements of the dissociation of super-dislocations, by using the weak-beam technique of transmission electron microscopy.
