Surface lattice relaxation including changes of interlayer spacings and reconstruction was theoretically investigated in magnetic transition metal thin films with a nearly half-filled d band. The c(2 x 2) surface reconstruction with <001> atomic displacement was found in bcc (001) films with surface-induced antiferromagnetism.
