A study was made of the dynamics of the Ziff-Gulari-Barshad model on square and hexagonal-honeycomb lattices when surface restructuring was introduced. It was shown that the Ziff-Gulari-Barshad model exhibited non-equilibrium phase transitions on the hexagonal-honeycomb lattice, similar to ones already observed upon the square lattice. However, the critical values of the kinetic parameters depended crucially upon the substrate type. If surface reconstruction (square ↔ hexagonal-honeycomb) was assumed for high lattice coverages of one of the reactive species, then persistent spatiotemporal oscillations and clustering of homologous species were observed for kinetic parameter values between 0.348 and 0.393.
