Size and shape effects upon creep and diffusion phenomena at the nanoscale were investigated. The higher diffusivity of nanostructures was explained using a classical thermodynamic model. As creep, in particular, was due to diffusion processes it was important to consider it at the nanoscale. Thus, to be able tocontrol creep in that domain, temperature and stress thresholds which took account of the size and shape of the nanostructure were defined.
