A number of basic problems related to ion conduction in homogeneously disordered solids were considered. These included how to define the mobile ion density, what could be learnt from electrode effects, what the ion transport mechanism is, the role played by dimensionality, the origin of the mixed-alkali effect, time-temperature superposition and the nearly constant loss. Solutions to some of these questions were suggested.
