It was shown, using Landau theory, that quenched dislocations could facilitate the super-solid to normal-solid transition; thus making it possible for the transition to occur even if it did not do so in a dislocation-free crystal. Detailed predictions were made of the dependence of the super-solid to normal-solid transition temperature, super-fluid density and specific heat upon temperature and dislocation spacing; all of which could be tested against experiment. The results were also expected to be applicable to many other systems.
