A mode-3 analysis was made of a dislocation at the interface of dissimilar materials having non-linear stress-strain laws. Local expansions of displacement at the dislocation core were derived for both media by matching across the interface ahead of the dislocation core. The displacements near to the dislocation core were found to be of differing orders. When a uniform stress was included via some remote applied field, energy was shown to concentrate in the material with lower rigidity while the self-stress had no effect upon the dislocation core. The example of a bi-material strip with rigid boundaries was used to illustrate the result. In this case, the near field could be obtained by considering the configurational force in a direction parallel to the boundaries.
