The dislocation behaviour in porous solids having various 2-dimensional arrangements of closed cylindrical voids was considered. It was suggested that, in many important practical cases, an approximation involving two close voids might be effective. The stress field and strain energy of a screw dislocation in an elastically isotropic solid containing two cylindrical voids were rigorously derived by using the technique of infinite ensembles of image dislocations. The image force exerted, by the voids, on such a dislocation was also calculated. As a limiting case, the stress field of a screw dislocation in a half-space containing a cylindrical void was derived.
