It was recalled that, in order to advance quantum computation, a NOT processor
was now urgently sought. A candidate for this was a nitrogen-vacancy center
which was associated with an additional N atom: called an NV–N center. Making
use of a classical molecular dynamics simulation of N ion implantation into pure
diamond with an energy of 200eV, the crystallographic structure of such NV–N
centers was examined. However, at 30K, most of theimplanted N atoms became
interstitials, making it difficult to identify even the nitrogen-vacancy centers.
