The 95Zr cation self-diffusivity in fully-dense, nanocrystalline cubic
ZrO2·9.5mol%Y2O3 (n-YSZ, mean grain size 50nm) was studied by tracer selfdiffusion
and precision-grinding sectioning. At 897 to 937C, the 95Zr diffusion
coefficient in grain boundaries was found to be about 7 orders of magnitude higher
than in single crystals of similar composition.
