Hydrogen-deuterium exchange experiments on NaH were probed using
thermogravimetry. From these measurements a diffusion parameter, for deuterium
in NaH, of 1.1 x 10−17m2/s at 523K was deduced. The activation energy for tracer
diffusion of D in NaH was found to be 1.0eV. The results suggested a diffusion
process mediated by neutral hydrogen vacancies.
