The problem of electron localization in elastic materials with disclinations was investigated within the framework of a gauge approach. Both topologically stable and unstable straight wedge disclinations, as well as disclination monopoles, were considered. It was shown that, for the topologically stable wedge, a disclination which was strongly localized in the core region electron states appeared. In the case of topologically unstable negative wedge disclinations and disclination monopoles, the localization process was found to depend essentially upon the depth of the deformation potential. The levels of localized electrons, as well as the exact form of the normalized wave-functions of the ground state, were obtained numerically.
