The formation of a new phase in an elastic body which contained a screw dislocation, a wedge disclination, or an edge dislocation was analyzed. Exact solutions were obtained for the first two problems, while the third problem was solved approximately by using a variational method and complex potentials. The effect of a non-linearity of the constitutive equations for the solid phase and of the phase boundary surface energy were considered, as well as the effect of the exterior boundaries of the body upon the new phase’s size and upon the stress and strain state of the solid phase.
