Vertex dynamics models, in 2 and 3 dimensions, were used to study grain growth in the presence of a limited mobility of triple-points (2 dimensions) and triple-lines (3 dimensions). Experiments on triple-points were used to support the proposed model. A reduced triple-point and triple-line mobility in the case of polycrystalline samples was shown to affect both the grain-growth kinetics and the grain-size distribution function.
