The stress fields due to dislocation walls in infinite and semi-infinite bodies were derived. Finite, infinite and semi-infinite walls of identical edge dislocations with a uniform spacing were considered. The results which corresponded to walls with discrete dislocation distributions were compared with those for walls with a continuous distribution of infinitesimal dislocations. The stress relaxation effects that were produced by a free surface in the neighborhood of a dislocation wall were studied. It was shown that the long-range stresses were exerted by bounding walls in both infinite and semi-infinite bodies. Stress divergence, or its absence, was considered for various wall configurations.
