Stress fields at inter-grain boundaries of 3 different types (symmetrical or asymmetrical tilt boundaries with a periodic system of edge dislocations, and a symmetrical system with random edge dislocations) were calculated. On the basis of these calculations, the angular dependence of inter-grain critical currents in superconductors was deduced. It was concluded that an adequate description of the superconducting features of the boundaries could be obtained only for a framework of randomly distributed dislocations.
