The stress field which arose from a dislocation of given Burgers vector was deduced from a point force by using the Moutier cycle. Stress contours were plotted in order to demonstrate the validity of the solution. The strain energy of a dislocation near to the sliding interface was derived on the basis of the imaginary cutting method, and was differentiated with respect to the coordinate in order to obtain the image force. The effect of the elastic constants of the second medium upon the stress field, strain energy and image force was studied. A comparison was made between the results for an edge dislocation near to a sliding interface, and those for a dislocation near to a perfectly bonded interface.
