A possible scheme was proposed for critical-current enhancement, in isotropic high-Tc superconductors, via intrinsic weak-link assisted pinning. By focussing upon the subtle balance between various forces acting upon dislocations and O vacancies, which stabilized their equilibrium positions within a crystal, the model was able to offer a qualitative description of some of the anomalous magnetic properties which were observed in dislocated, deoxygenated and irradiated oxide superconductors.
