The emission of dislocation loops by Frank-Read sources was numerically simulated for a field of randomly arranged point obstacles. Two models were tested. One involved homogeneous weakly-activated obstacles, rather than a reacting forest of dislocations. The other involved reacting (strong, not activated) and non-reacting dislocations of non-coplanar sliding systems. It was shown that, in the latter case, the source-starting stress could exceed the Frank-Read stress by more than 5 times.
