On the basis of a general theory of non-local elasticity, the stresses which were associated with a screw dislocation that was near to an inclusion were analyzed. Analyses were made of cases with and without eigen-strains. The results indicated a non-local surface residual at the interface, between inclusion and matrix, due to the interaction of the dislocation and the inclusion. All of the classical stress singularities were eliminated. Maxima and minima of the shear stress were predicted to be located in the dislocation core and near to the inclusion, respectively.
