Transmission electron microscopic observations of extended nodes in samples which had been compressed at 1400 and 1500C were used to deduce a value of 25mJ/m2 for the stacking-fault energy above the ductile-brittle transition temperature of 1200C. It was concluded that this low value of the stacking-fault energy might help to explain the significance of deformation twinning and the formation of polytypical structures in this material.
