It was suggested that the Bordoni and Hasiguti peaks (of types P1 and P3) should be treated in terms of one basic microscopic mechanism. This was the nucleation of multikink-antikink pairs in pinned dislocation segments. The relevant activation energies were then multiples of one quantum of energy; the single kink (anti-kink) rest energy. This raised the possibility of ordering internal friction peaks in a simple spectral series. This suggestion appeared to be consistent with experimental data.
