The γ-phase of the super-alloy was characterized by using in situ experiments and by making post facto observations (bright field and weak beam) by means of transmission electron microscopy. A mean stacking-fault energy of about 31mJ/m2 was deduced by measuring dissociated nodes and the dissociated widths of dislocations. It was shown that plastic deformation was controlled by the collective movement of dense pile-ups. The existence of local order was noted.
