Atomistic configurations of extended glide dislocations on the basal plane of CdS were observed here for the first time using high-resolution electron microscopy. From the width (9nm) of the 60°-dislocation and of the screw dislocation (3.6nm), the energy of the intrinsic stacking fault was estimated to be 13mJ/m2.
