Glide dislocations in single crystal which had been deformed at 300K were shown to be dissociated into two Shockley partials using the weak beam technique. The partial separation corresponded to a calculated stacking fault energy of 13.2mJ/m2. A strong correlation existed between the stacking fault energy and atomic bond ionicity.
