A model was proposed for the development of plastic deformation processes in an irradiated material. The model was based upon the kinetics of dislocation ensembles which interacted with defects of various types. It was shown that the appearance of radiation embrittlement in reactor materials could not be adequately described if pseudo-relativistic dynamic effects were neglected.
