The core structure of dislocations with an a<100> Burgers vector, in a body-centered cubic lattice, was studied by using the generalized Peierls model and previously published γ-surfaces for {110} planes in Mo and Nb. Contrary to other atomistic simulations of dislocations on {100} planes, it was found here that the core region of an edge dislocation exhibited dissociation and acquired a considerable screw component; so that it possessed some polarity. No dissociation took place in the case of a<001> screw dislocations.
