With the given γ surface, the structure of the 45°-a[010] dislocations was determined within the framework of the generalized Peierls model. It was found that dissociation according to one equation was energetically unfavourable although γm was larger than the critical value of 2J/m2 above which, according to a simpler model of the γ surface used by Schoeck (1998), dissociation should take place. The reason was that the width of the energy barrier along the chosen path was wider than in the simpler model. It was therefore concluded that locking of an a[010] dislocation with an orientation of ±45° would occur due to a B5 lock.
