Serial sectioning was used to investigate the self-diffusion of 44Ti in large-grained (0.1 to 2mm) samples of TiOx at 1250 to 1550C (table 12). The results suggested that the activation energy was independent of stoichiometry, and that the differences in diffusivity values at a given temperature were due to differences in the pre-exponential factor as a function of stoichiometry.
