Paramagnetic absorption of Mo5+ was studied in a polycrystalline TiO2 rutile lattice, The g tensor (gx = 1.897, gy = 1.920, gz = 1.857) and the hyperfine tensor (Ax = 32.7, (Ay= 51.2, (Az = 58.5 (in 10-4/cm)) were in agreement with those expected for an nd1 ion in an interstitial position.
