Electron-probe X-ray spectrum analysis techniques were used to study the diffusion zone between oxide couples with ZnO. The latter were irradiated, in the interdiffusion direction, with 8MeV electrons at a flux density of 5 x 10-5A/cm2 at 1000C. The diffusion coefficients which were deduced from the Fe distribution ranged from 5 x 10-9 to 2 x 10-8cm2/s for both oxides. The diffusion coefficients which were deduced from the Zn distribution ranged from 5 x 10-9 to 2 x 10-8 cm2/s for ZnO and from 5 x 10-9 to 4 x 10-8cm2/s for Fe2O3. It was found that the coefficients for metal ion diffusion under irradiation were 2 to 3 times higher than the equivalent values in the absence of irradiation.
