Chemical analysis was used to study the interdiffusion of tablets of the oxides. The diffusion of Zn from ZnO into Fe2O3 could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 9.2 x 102exp[-80.9(kcal/mol)/RT]

while that of Fe from Fe2O3 into ZnO was described by:

D (cm2/s) = 5.0 x 101exp[-107(kcal/mol)/RT]
