Dislocation-density studies were made of icosahedral single quasicrystals following plastic deformation and subsequent heat treatment. The deformation tests were carried out at 695 to 820C, using a constant strain rate of 10-5/s. The heat treatment was carried out at 730C, and corresponded to one of the deformation temperatures. The development of the dislocation density during heat treatment and plastic deformation was compared. The data were interpreted by using a kinetic equation which described the evolution of the dislocation density during deformation.
