Materials of the form, La2Ni1-xCuxO4+δ (x = 0 to 1), were prepared and characterized. The oxides exhibited good thermal stability, and a high electrical conductivity (about 100S/cm), as well as high values of O diffusivity and surface exchange coefficients; as determined by using secondary ion mass spectroscopy of 18O. They exhibited diffusivities that were an order of magnitude higher than those of the best perovskite materials.
