Energy distributions of electrons emitted by a (100) field emission tip were reported. Field emission energy distributions, obtained with tip temperatures greater than 1000K, revealed significant density of states effects at energies above EF. The polarization dependence of the photofield emission current resulting from laser illumination at an energy of hω = 2.710eV provided evidence for photo-excitation into bulk states before electron emission into the vacuum.
