By means of Richardson plots, low work functions of 2.3 to 2.4eV were measured for three planes, including (100), of single crystals. Modifying Smith's model for a metallic surface, the work function was estimated theoretically, for a jellium model, to be 2.31±0.05eV; in good agreement with experimental values.
