The release and diffusion of atomic H was studied by using cathodically polarized electrodes. The permeation fluxes were measured by using mass spectroscopic methods. It was then possible to determine the atomic H diffusion coefficients, and to obtain the relative values of the polarized metal surface coverage and the polarization curve of the metal in HCl. It was deduced that the room-temperature H diffusivity was equal to 6.67 x 10-5cm2/s.
