The time-lag technique was used to study the permeation and diffusion of H in pure α-Fe. It was found that diffusion at temperatures of between 300 and 700C could be described by:
D (cm2/s) = 9 x 10-4 exp[-2.70(kcal/g-atom)/RT]
while permeation within the same temperature range could be described by:
P (cm mm/s atm½) = 1.8 x 10-2 exp[-8.45(kcal/g-atom)/RT]
