Thin-layer deposition and sectioning techniques were used to study the self-diffusion of 134Cs. The data for temperatures ranging from 404 to 603C could be described by:

D (cm2/s) = 1.76 x 101 exp[-35.5(kcal/mol)/RT]

The best linear fits to the solute diffusion data ([407] to [411], [418] to [422]) yield:

Cs: Ln[Do] = 0.60E – 18.3 (R2 = 0.995); Xe: Ln[Do] = 0.32E – 7.8 (R2 = 0.70)
