Self-diffusion was studied by using proton activation analysis to determine the concentration profiles of 18O in samples which had been exchanged with 18O-enriched gas. For SiO2-20K2O-20wt%SrO, the diffusion data could be described by:

568-853K:     D (cm2/s) = 9.3 x 10-13 exp[-12.1(kcal/mol)/RT]

953-1394K:     D (cm2/s) = 8.5 x 10-2 exp[-52.1(kcal/mol)/RT]

Within certain ranges, the O diffusion coefficient increased by 2 of magnitude. This range was 853 to 953K.
