A study was made of diffusion, in 5N-purity single crystals, by using out-gassing rate-measurements of specimens which were initially saturated with the given isotope (table 100). It was found that the absolute rate theory formalism of Vineyard provided an adequate explanation for the results if quantum corrections and anharmonic effects were taken into account.
