The migration of H through polycrystalline samples (table 107) was studied by using electrochemical methods. It was found that the diffusion of H depended upon the alloy composition, the degree of cold work, and the concentration of H adsorbed into the solid. The addition of P, S and As compounds to the electrolyte promoted H absorption. Heat treatments which were intended to induce grain-boundary solute-segregation did not appear to affect the H permeation behavior.
