The temperature dependences of D and H diffusion (figure 21) in the α and β phases were deduced from hydriding reaction kinetics. A generalized equation was developed for the determination of the diffusion coefficients in the β phase, and for reactions on the surface of the α and β phases. It was found that the Arrhenius parameters depended upon the occupancy of the interstices. This dependence was related to a redistribution of the H atoms over various types of interstice.
