The release and diffusion of atomic H was studied by using cathodically polarized electrodes. The permeation fluxes were measured by using mass spectroscopic methods. It was then possible to determine the atomic H diffusion coefficients, and to obtain the relative values of the polarized metal surface coverage and the polarization curve of the metal in HCl. It was deduced that the ambient diffusivity was equal to 1.4 x 10-10cm2/s.
